"After about 6 weeks studying Bulls around the country both in the flesh and online, we landed the one we wanted. Here’s a detailed analysis of what I thought after viewing him twice.
Turiroa produced something that I am excited to introduce to our herd. Lot 15 is a bull that has many good things that are tough to find. As always we look for robust, sound, meaty, quiet cattle and he ticks all these boxes.
He starts with a good strong muzzle, nice eye cover as well as a kind eye. His neck is strong, masculine and covered in a good curly coat. The shoulder is well blended and placed nicely on a very big rib. He’s as good as I’ve seen behind the shoulder in a long time and carries that width through to a good lengthy hindquarter.
For a bull with so much round and rib he carries himself amazingly well. No roll on the front feet which is also hard to do in a bull with width. Very good for claw shape. He picks his back legs up beautifully with no swing at all and slams them down right where his front left. His hocks are very good in angle and are strong. The bone is good enough. Temperament is very settles and kind. He’s an easy nature to work.
On the performance front, he has more birth than I’d like but again for a moderate bull has fantastic growth. He has muscle, fat and some IMF. Also good scrotal.
Do you think that will convince the bank manager?
He came with a reasonable price tag of 50k.
Thank you to Turiroa Angus (Wairoa, East Coast) and the Powdrell Family"
